The Family Law (FL) rules require that all prospective parties to a FL case genuinely try to resolve their dispute before filing any application in Court.
It is important to note that many FL disputes can be settled in an amicable, fair and efficient manner.
Our role is to assist you and guide you towards resolving your matter other than via Court litigation.
We find that very few matters actually proceed to trial before a Judge in Court.
It is important to note that having your matter decided in Court can be very time consuming, expensive and emotionally stressful.
Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) is a cooperative, problem solving process where the Family Consultant is a neutral professional (psychologist or social worker) assisting
family members by clearly defining the issues in dispute and facilitating outcomes by reaching agreements that are in the best interests of the family.
We do not provide legal advice.
FDR facilitates negotiations and may provide guidance and suggestions about how the matter can be resolved. The focus on children’s needs is maintained.
Only the concerned parties attend (not with lawyers).
